Get ready to say good-bye to summer because fall is coming back and not to mention it is back-to-school season. I’m not prepared to give up my cute flowing summer dresses or slim-fitting high waist shorts that I can enjoy wearing on a breezy summer night either, but I do like a change. During the fall, especially in that transition from summer where it’s warm during the day but ice cold in the morning, it makes it hard to decide what to wear. You don’t want to put on layers of clothes just to strip them off one by one through the day and you don’t want to under-dress that you’re finding yourself close to hypothermia because you don’t want to carry five pieces of clothing everywhere you go. This is where picking the right clothes is essential.
From experience I found that you can have a perfect balance between the two. I’m in no way a professional fashion stylist, but I know good style when I see it and since it is also back-to-school season, here’s a few helpful insights for you. My all-time favorite autumn apparel is a pair of leggings with boots (long or short), a stylish scarf and a cardigan. You can’t really go wrong with these items. In fact you can play it up in different ways.
Leggings: Now ladies, let’s not get carried away with wearing ultra-thin see-it-all leggings and if you do make sure to wear a top that covers. Leggings can be worn under a dress, it doesn’t have the thickness like jeans and it’s more flexible to move around in. You can also wear it under a nice long blouse or casually with an oversized t-shirt. You can wear leggings through the day without feeling too cold or too hot depending on the weather.
Boots: I love boots. They’re fun, stylish and versatile. There are many different styles of boots, from UGGS to combat boots to riding boots to booties, so pick out one that is more casual fitting and one to dress up with. Besides UGGS, other boots depending on the length works well with keeping your legs from freezing without overheating when it gets hot either. You can match boots with your shorts, leggings, or dress. The possibilities are endless once you get creative.
Scarves: Infinity scarves have been a trend and I can see why. It adds a dab of fab to your wardrobe. It’s a must-have accessory. Scarves can be matched with a simple white t-shirt and jeans, it can dazzle up plain dress and most importantly it keeps you warm from cold breezes. Knitted or women scarves may not be the best choice, even if it warms you in the morning, it can get pretty steamy around the neck in the afternoon. With thinner material it make not give you that same satisfaction, but it does the job while not having to suffocate later in the day.
Cardigan: It comes in various forms. The classic button-up cardigan is another timeless piece that can be matched with almost anything. You can wear a cardigan over a dress, a chic blouse, or t-shirt. Depending on the style of cardigan, it is almost appropriate for any occasion. A casual chic wear with a cardigan can be worn paired with a tank top, black leggings, and boots with an up-do. Try to avoid wearing knitted cardigans, cotton and polyester-made material will be more suitable for the autumn weather.
Finding the right outfit can be hard, but hope these tips can give you a better insight or spark some creative ideas that you can incorporate into your wardrobe. Let’s get ready for fall!
