Hidden Dangers of the Food Industry.

By this point in time everyone should have at least heard of the cruelty of factory farms. They know there are horrible things taking place, but many refuse to look at the details of what is going on. And who can blame them when so many thousands of individuals cannot afford to buy whole organic foods?

But there is plenty more wrong with our food industry besides what comes from livestock. Surely if I mention the fact that Americans are eating a dangerous amount of GMO’s one might brush the argument off considering they either do not want to know or cannot afford the alternative. This has to stop. America, especially young America, and those suffering from neurological disorders, gastro-intestinal problems, cancer, or autism need to know that large corporations are pumping your body with pesticides.

Genetically modified produce are now manufactured to be Glyphosate-resistant. Glyphosate is an herbicide used to crop productions to kill weeds and, anything else in its way. GMO crops are made to not only withstand these chemicals but also every single cell of the plants body is reconstructed to produce these substances.

People eating GMO’s are eating herbicides. An argument the companies have is that they are nontoxic to humans because we do not have the same genetic makeup as plants which leaves these holes in their DNA. We are not susceptible to the same poisons as plants. But this does not take into consideration that the human gut harbors more bacteria than we do cells in our body, and they are susceptible to these poisons. Without our gut bacteria humans would be unable to digest pretty much anything. We are so heavily reliant on this bacteria that as a species without it we would likely starve, especially in the United States where so much of our food is processed and artificially enhanced.

Damage to this bacteria can lead to a plethora of gastrointestinal illnesses. There have also been correlations shown between the rise in the use of glyphosate and the rise in autism. In addition to this there are also correlations in the patterns of use in these GMO’s with neurological disorders, like Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s as well as cancer. So please don’t be fooled by the industry. Simply eating more vegetables will not protect your health.

Learn what you’re putting in your mouth. Look for labels which read “organic” or “non-GMO” because companies are not required to tell consumers of the use of GMO’s in their products.
