- Before jumping in to starting on a project you have in mind, many people are overwhelmed and have no clue where to start. They don’t have a clarifying vision of what their dream lifestyle looks like, and don’t make any progress towards their dream. Their dream stays a dream.
So how can you make your dream a reality?
How can you creatively craft your lifestyle design?
Step 1: You need to develop your freedom-based mindset
“CHOOSE That’s it. Simply choose to live your best possible life.
DO NOT settle for mediocrity any longer. You have just one life.
STOP accepting the excuses you’ve been making all along.
START taking action and defining what your ideal lifestyle looks like.
FOCUS on how good you will feel when you accept life is in your control.
ACCEPT all the power you have within you to accomplish great things.”
– Natalie Sisson of The Suitcase Entrepreneur
Step 2: Stop treating your blog as a hobby and treat it as your business, a future ticket to freedom.
It just takes a laptop to keep this blog going. This is my future ticket to freedom.
Through blog posts of sharing advice, through defining and clarifying my own goals, I want to reach out to fantastic people who I can help. I want to others to see my expertise and collaborate with inspirational people on epic projects.
I do need to start treating this blog as a business, as my ticket to freedom, than just merely a hobby
If you woke up tomorrow and were free to do anything you wanted with your life, what would you do and who would you be?
I often ask this to new people I meet, or friends who are complaining about their work. The new people I meet, I ask and their answer shows me their values and qualities as a human being. It’s a secret question, to whether I want to get to known them better.
My friends who complain about their work and lifestyle, I try to dig in to what they truly would like to do. What makes them so excited they cannot wait to get up and go to work. I sneak in a little peak about my nomadic lifestyle. That the lifestyle on the road is not for everyone, but definitely keeps me going in terms of meeting new people, and hustling for the next freelance project.
I asked the question to my 6 year old cousin. “What would you like to do everyday if you had all the power in the world?” She replied, “I would eat smoothies and ice-cream everyday. But daddy would be mad, but it’s ok.”
My little cousin knows that ice-cream is not healthy, but she would love to eat it everyday regardless. She fears my uncle will get mad, but still she would risk it if she could. A mini adventurer at heart.
But seriously, what would I do and who would I be?
I want to kiteboard. I want to live in front of the beach and enjoy kiting everyday. I used to do this everyday when I lived in Egypt. Was teaching everyday, kiting everyday, being immersed in the kite community. But I want to do more. Instead of teaching, I want to be involved in the kiting community, on either promoting kite brands, kiting trips, or whether promoting a new weather app.
I want to live near a cable park, so that on days with no wind, we can easily go train and practice there.
I want to be organize projects to be invited to organize kiteboard trips for a bigger purpose.
Kiteboarding taught me to be confident out in the open water.
I believe, especially for the ladies that kite board is such an empowering sport. To be out by yourself in the open water, with just your kite above you underneath the vast sky makes you appreciate nature, makes you forget the city life. It’s just you, the kite, and nature.
So where exactly do I want to take my kiting to the next level?
What bigger purpose can I bring to people with kiting? Perhaps organizing a trip for those wanting to learn to kite in a 1-2 week intensive retreat. This will be far different from the regular kite camps where you kite, drink, and party. Instead, I want to collaborate with a personal development or business development coach to integrate afternoon workshops. Kite, learn, network, and celebrate.
I want to organize kiteboard trips.
Retreats for beginners.
Boating trips for advanced riders taking them to secret spots.
But mainly, I want to show them the beauty of the sport, to introduce them to the positivity of people involved, and the beautiful places you can go exploring kiting.
Am I dreaming?
Can I make it happen?
Is it impossible?
No, definitely not.
Am I scared?
Yes, of course. Where do I start? How do I start?
What would my day to day lifestyle look like?
Early morning kite session.
Work. Promoting. Managing team. Making phone calls. Making it happen.
Healthy lunch and relax time to digest fun, work material.
Meet with clients.
Back to work, work, work.
Plan for action steps to do the next morning
Sunset kite session.
Celebrate with a slow, home made dinner for the productive day.
What steps can I take to make today look more like my dream lifestyle?
( 1 ) Go live in front of water with wind!
I just moved to Maui and live 20 minutes away from the Kite Beach. Great for practicing freestyle and riding waves. Although not directly in front of water, there is wind everyday!!
( 2 ) Going back to earlier, I need to start shifting my mindset to use this blog as a mean to my future ticket to freedom. Start treating it as a business, not a hobby.
( 3 ) Start organizing a retreat for 2015.
Kiteboard + personal development
