LeVar Burton’s ‘Reading Rainbow’ Kickstarter Gets Backed $1 Million in 1 Day

You may remember LeVar Burton as Kunta Kinte, from ROOTS, or Geordi La Forge, from Star Trek: The Next Generation, but today you will remember him as the man that is helping every child, everywhere get access to learn how to read. LeVar Burton was the host of Reading Rainbow, a children’s TV series that aired on PBS from 1983 to 2006 that encouraged children to read. LeVar is back! Now he’s on a mission to bring Reading Rainbow back to every child, everywhere! It sounds like a huge idea, but that’s because it is! Right now in the United States alone, 1 in 4 kids will grow up illiterate. Imagine what that number is across the entire world! LeVar and the Reading Rainbow team will be helping millions of kids worldwide learn how to read! They plan on doing this by putting Reading Rainbow on an online version, a classroom version, and by delivering them for free to schools in need. This exciting idea to change reading education for kids worldwide is quite amazing! The Kickstarter campaign is already successful by getting backed the $1 million dollar goal within the first day. Half of this is probably due to the extensive impact it will be making on the world, and the other half is probably due to the brilliant Kickstarter rewards that backers are getting. See for yourself what LeVar Burton is giving away! After seeing his Kickstarter Rewards, you’ll see that he really is on a mission to help kids everywhere learn how to read. LeVar Burton is  an absolutely outstanding example for leading the way in this mission!  Congrats again LeVar Burton! Live long and prosper!
