This week Marvel has revealed the exciting news that it has struck a deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment to bring everyone’s favorite web-slinger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU if you prefer). While the character himself is a Marvel creation, Sony has held the motion picture rights for years but now Spider-Man looks to be returning to his owners. Spider-Man has been revealed to be appearing in an undisclosed Marvel film and with his next self-titled film being released on July 28th, 2017 which will be produced by Sony with co-production input from Marvel. IGN is reporting that Marvel has shifted its release schedule, which is basically your movie viewing schedule for the next four years or so, with films like Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther both being moved forward about half a year in order to make room for Spidey’s film now that they no longer have to compete for audience’s attention. Now all that needs to happen is Marvel to gain back the X-Men for its cinematic superhero dominance to be complete; it’s your move DC.
