My boyfriend and I went to see “Love is Strange” this weekend. It’s the story of two men, their love, and what happens in the lives of these men and their friends when the get married.
It is a slow film, one that lingers in particular moments – the long lilt of a Chopin piano piece or a dramatic pause signifying something much more than goodbye – and seeks to present the raw experience of a terrible situation.
We live in a world today where we each face many trials, and as we move forward, the new world clashes with old in ways we cannot totally comprehend until it’s upon us. I think this honest portrayal of such a struggle is worth everyone’s time to see.
It will remind you to cherish the good, and rise against the bad with and for those you love. For really, how else will we all survive?
