Review: How to Get Away with Murder

The newest television obsession, ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ starring Viola Davis as Annalise Keating, practicing lawyer / professor of law that gains assistance from a group of students selected from the class with various clients and cases. The season has barely begun and the flaws of each character are becoming visible from infidelity to the hunger for power. The five students that assist with cases use their intelligence, strength, and sexual abilities to get necessary information that assists Mrs. Annalise Keating in winning her cases and making an everlasting impression. Like other shows written by Shonda Rhimes, this show will prove to be addicting with insights into the future of the characters and flashbacks revealing the journey of each character and their ability to portray themselves as innocent students or malicious contenders through numerous dilemmas.

The strong exterior of Annalise Keating is a trait that many viewers may connect too as this is not a trait that is thought to be demonstrated by many women or female television characters. However, her ability to hide vulnerability and appear fine is strong human-like trait about this character as she continues to accept challenging cases that would seem to end in the favor of the opposing counsel. Other than the impeccable, Annalise Keating, the group of students includes a know-it-all, a quiet type, a privileged kid, the sexually empowered, and an underdog. Through the diverse personalities of the students, it is evident that every trick and opportunity to become the #1 asset to the law firm of Annalise Keating will be met regardless of personal beliefs. Because of the characters willingness to lie, cheat, steal, and land in questionable situations all viewers of the show will be automatically glued to the television, yearning for the next episode — which happens to be the same feeling that many gained from ‘Scandal’, another hit television show from Shonda Rhimes.

How to Get Away with Murder- Thursday at 10:00pm on ABC channel.
