Looking back on your life- do you wish you took more chances, or trusted yourself more? If today were your last day, would you be doing what you want to be doing?
Life is about chasing our dreams. Most of us know what we want, but are scared to go after it. Don’t live your life in the “what if” mode. Go out there and try it! If things don’t go the way you hoped, at least you know you gave it a shot. Don’t wind up in your 50’s, wishing you had taken more risks and settled less.
The biggest risk you’ll ever take is not taking one. Make the most of your life, until you’re in a place that delivers you the greatest amount of happiness. Here are five reasons why you need to take risks:
1. Playing it safe may hold you back.
Sometimes, it’s easier to settle to avoid all the things that could go wrong. What if you were missing out on a higher quality of life? You have to stop thinking of risk-taking negatively, and think of all the things that could go right.
Take the first step, and you will see that amazing opportunities await. Don’t be afraid to take on a risky challenge or role. In the end, you’ll either be rewarded or learn from it. Both outcomes benefit your personal growth. Playing it safe may only hurt us in the long run.
2. Failure is part of the game.
Don’t let the fear of failure stop you from making your next big move. As Ellen DeGeneres says: “When you take risks you learn that there will be times when you succeed and there will be times when you fail, and both are equally important.” We learn from every risk we take, every mistake we make, and every obstacle we overcome. Those lessons may lead us on a bigger and better path.
Remember, even when you lose you’re winning.
3. Success won’t land in your doorstep- you have to go and get it.
Nothing worth having comes easy, so don’t limit yourself. Success requires us to make bold moves and put it all on the line. Step outside your comfort zone, and know that you are capable of more than you think.
4. Risk-taking makes you a stronger person.
Risk-taking builds confidence, character and makes you a leader. You will learn to overcame failure, and realize that mistakes are not the end of our journey to success, but rather, the start of something greater.
5. You will make the most out of your life.
If you’re tired of current situation, replace those negative beliefs that have kept you from having what you’ve wanted in the past. Things won’t change if you don’t.
If you’re tired of working a job you hate, look for a new one. If you think you deserve a raise, say something. Ask that girl you can’t stop thinking about out. Make the move to another city if that’s your dream. Whatever you’re in search of, go and get it. Let go of your fear, and set out on a journey to make the most of your life. Success is about having the courage to become the person you were meant to be.
