“We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Wilson
The power of the mind is no joke! In fact, The Law of Attraction suggests that we are the sole beings responsible for both the positive and negative influences that come into our lives by simply focusing on our own thoughts and actions.
This means that if you spend your days wallowing and sulking over losses, regrets, and fears, you are more than likely experiencing negative energy surrounding your daily life. However, if you see the good in every person and experience you encounter, and always see the “silver lining” even in the worst of situations, you will soon start to see positivity in your relationships and experiences.
Therefore, the Law of Attraction encourages us to see that WE have the freedom to manifest our own destiny.
Speaking your dreams and goals into existence is the best way to see the Law of Attraction in action.
“How do you do this?” you may ask. Well for starters, talk about the things you want to happen within your life and in time they will come into fruition in some form or another.
However, this is easier said than done, so here is a comprehensive list of 5 ways you can ensure positivity and prosperity happens within your life.
1. Speak with Optimism & Confidence
When speaking about your dreams and desires it is important to talk about them with passion and trust. Have you ever sat through a presentation in class in which you knew the person had no clue about what they were talking about? These people are typically the ones who are repeatedly looking down at their cue cards without ever once making eye contact with the audience, or the ones who have to take several pauses in between their sentences because they are thinking about what to say next.
Sound familiar? Well, that example holds true when you are talking about what your future goals and ambitions are as well. You must learn to talk with affirmation in what you want and how you plan to execute this. Be enthusiastic, hopeful, and trust in the process because in time the Universe will eventually deliver.
2. Write down your plans in detail, have pictures up of the things you want, and most importantly VISUALIZE!
Similar to the unprepared student example, you can never be too prepared either. Always remember that you must visualize the end result of every goal executed. You can do this by writing down how you plan to achieve these goals in detail. You must always be one step ahead of the competition by strategizing and formulating a plot to get to where you want to be.
Another example of doing this is by having a picture or a visual of what you want to achieve. Did you know that before rapper & songwriter Drake bought his YOLO estate for $7.7 million in the Hidden Hills, he actually had a desktop image of the house on his computer for years? Visualizing is the key to every goal executed. If you conceive an image of what you want and have a plan to get there, you will always be one step ahead.
3. Never Mind the Naysayers
As Dreamville rapper J. Cole once said, “If they don’t know your dreams, then they can’t shoot them down.” Some people thrive off of negativity and enjoy seeing others fail at what they do. Those people are the ones who are generally always angry and have nothing but horrible things to say about others. You must learn to steer away from the Naysayers because as much as you want to help, sometimes they are better off being left by themselves. You must never speak about your dreams and ambitions around these people because they will always look for ways to discourage you. Be the bigger person and learn to step away from those people and continue to aim for the stars.
4. Surround yourself with people that you want to be like.
As the Law of Attraction suggests, like attracts like. Being around someone who is generally always working towards achieving a goal they set for themselves or someone who is genuinely always happy to help out people as much as they can, reflects immediately because they are typically the ones that stand out the most. People who are ambitious, hard-working, caring, and most importantly happy are the people who will carry you towards success.
These are the type of people you want to be around because their energy will always push you to better yourself and accomplish things that you never thought possible. Having an immediate confidant or team to rely on is one of the most, if not the most important factor in achieving your goals. We as humans are social beings and thrive off of interaction and connectivity. Therefore, you must keep in mind that we need others in order to shape the person you want to become.
5. Never sulk over the losses and remain humble even in your wins
You have to learn that no matter how positive of a person you are and how well you execute all of your plans, life happens and not every day will bring you prosperity and joy. That is why you must expect that these “bad days” will eventually come and you can’t let it slow down the progress you’ve made. You are your own worst enemy, and for that reason you must take the losses as they come and keep pushing to have a better day then the day before with every sunrise.
Also, learn that even though you may be reaping the benefits of your success, you must also remain humble because at any moment it can and will be taken away from you. Do yourself a favor and always keep working on the next goal.
As for myself, the dream is to one day be a video or news editor for Complex Magazine or Genius. My biggest passion in life is Hip-Hop music and I’m always trying to learn more about the culture whether it is from films, interviews, books, or personal experience.
I have recently become the Vice President of my journalism club Radio Television Digital News Association at Cal State Northridge and have continuously sought out for any guest speakers within the music journalism field. Last semester, my biggest accomplishment was being able to talk to one of my idols within the game, Andres Tardio, who is a freelance writer for Billboard, Complex, Genius, MTV News, and RapUp. Before he left, he jokingly told us a line from Notorious B.I.G’s Kick In The Door. “Stay low and keep firing,” he uttered for completely different reasons than the New York MC originally intended when writing the lyric. Andres simply meant to stay humble and keep working towards all your goals. That line has always stuck with me and for that reason I am more then determined to reach my destination.
I have also recently joined the Collective Lifestyle family as a blog editor and hope to expand my connections, get hands on experience, and also be involved with the culture as much as I can. The people I have came across have helped me get to where I’m at and for that I am forever grateful for at the opportunity to become a better version of myself.
The best is yet to come, so stay tuned!
