In the early morning of November 10th, 2013, I awakened with an overwhelming amount of excitement, anticipation, even nervousness. The day had finally arrived, with no evidence of only a few hours asleep on my face or my demeanor. I exited my room and immediately knocked on Bryan’s door, my next door roommate. “It’s time,” I announced through the door. After hearing the brief, muffled sound of bed sheets rustling frivolously, he enthusiastically opened the door. “Fuck yeah,” he responded.
We then drove to Hollydale Park, located in quiet, residential area in South Gate, CA. Upon reaching our destination, Bryan and I explored the area, in search of the one man that had brought us here. The park had plenty of open space, massive fields which stretched for around 200 yards. It was a perfectly beautiful day, sunny skies with barely any clouds in sight. One end of the park was bustling with activities. Adults competitively and leisurely engaged in basketball and tennis, while the kids spent their time playing in the elaborate jungle gym, families enjoyed a picnic style feast on the fresh grass. But no sign of him.
It was nearly 11 am, and I had started to get worried. “Why the hell am I doing this?” Let me please explain.
I had always been fascinated with UFOs and extraterrestrials. Watching science fiction movies such as “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” and “Independence Day”, and television shows like “X-Files” had sparked my interest as a youth. I even conducted my own research by reading up on the Roswell Crash and Area 51. I mean, out of the countless number of universes and galaxies which have existed for billions of years, are we to believe that humans are the only cognitive beings alive or to ever exist, period? And as I matured into a young adult, along with the growth and development of the internet, my interest transformed into an obsession. Currently airing on the History Channel, “Ancient Aliens” discusses the theory of Ancient Astronauts visiting our early civilizations and presents historical texts, artifacts, and landmarks which contain evidence of past contact between humanity and extraterrestrials. Although some episodes express ideas which may be considered farfetched, bending the truth to extremes at times, the idea itself is very thought-provoking. The archaeologic similarities the show emphasizes between the earlier human civilizations, despite great distances which separate them devoid of any form of consistent communication, are altogether compelling.
In regards to 21st century sightings, there has been quite a buzz surrounding the phenomena. On May 9th, 2001, The Disclosure Project was held at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. Led by founder Dr. Steven Greer, backed by a plethora of military, intelligence, government, corporate and scientific witnesses, with the intent of establishing the existence of UFOs, extraterrestrial life, and possible technological advances that prove to be of grave importance to the human race. Within the past decade or so, multiple countries have already disclosed what was once “confidential” information regarding UFOs since 2004. France, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. In 2011, the NSA (National Security Agency) had declassified their documents. Just last year, even though we had known for many years, Area 51 was finally disclosed. Yet, some claim that this base was strictly created for the purpose of spying and surveilling foreign countries, others say that was only 5% of what went on behind the gates.
So why now? Perhaps these documents were no longer considered as serious as they had initially been. But it does make you wonder. Most of the reports are read were written by military and government of various rank. And I’m not going on record to say that the people who protect our country are absolutely crazy. Nick Pope, former Ministry of Defense (UK), has publicly advocated the existence of these beings. Maybe something bigger is on the horizon. During his term as Minister of Defense, the Honorable Paul Hellyer claims the existence of multiple alien species. Isn’t that why there has been a barrage of alien invasion and apocalyptic films? Is there something we need to prepare for? Or maybe I should apologize, I fell head first into the rabbit hole and I can’t escape.
So back to our search. We had circled the park, but to no avail. The brief consideration of giving up had crossed my mind, but then Bryan spotted a group near a gazebo like structure next to a parking lot. Once we had reached them, standing there with a camera loosely strapped around his neck and looking up towards the sky with a warm smile on his face, Robert Bingham. The man who summons UFOs. My outer-worldly curiosity led me to his YouTube channel, as well as knowledge of the Hollydale event. He was a soft-spoken, amicable man, who approached us and offered a welcoming hand. Accompanied by his wife, Robert thanked us for making the trip out to witness a unique and spiritual encounter. He has been communicating with these beings for years, informing us that their presence is benevolent as they survey us, perhaps waiting until mankind is ready for their existence to finally be known.
More people came. Young and old, ethnically diverse. Yet, we all shared the same sense of wonder. And before more could arrive, as those who were present readied their cameras and recording equipment, someone pointed straight up into the air directly above us. “Woah, do you see that?” he exclaimed. Suddenly, everyone’s head faced the skies, scanning for anything clearly visible. “Wow, it’s a cluster of them!” somebody else chimed in with excitement. It took a few moments for my eyes adjust to the brightness coming from the sun, but what I saw…I will never forget for the rest of my life.
Hovering right above us, at a very high altitude, were six white orbs in a “Y” or “V” formation. My jaw dropped in utter astonishment. I looked over to Bryan, who gave me a face that said, “You gotta be shitting me.”
