“How You Doin’?!”: Those are the first three words the undeniable Queen of hot topics, Media (and my personal influence) utters to her studio and at home audience also known as her “co-hosts” every morning on The Wendy Williams Show. But now Wendy is talking a lot more than just “Hot Topics”.
Williams opened up recently to People Magazine about the struggles with weight she had all through her childhood and early adulthood:
“Honestly, my life before 21 sucked. My first diet was in the first grade! Tuna fish and mustard with yogurt on the side. Weight was a big thing for me to overcome. When I look back I was a little fluffy, but I wasn’t fat.”
Other struggles Wendy has been openly vocal about was her decade long addiction to cocaine and her struggles with fertility before giving birth to her “miracle baby” Kevin, Jr. She went onto say:
“Drugs were a demon I had to overcome. There was a hiccup with a couple of miscarriages. Life is hard on us women.”
After turning 50, (yes 50!) this past July, Wendy is the healthiest and happiest she’s ever been. She added:
“I’ve corrected just about everything that bothered the hell out of me in my twenties, thirties and forties. I have to say, this is not how I thought things would turn out. I’m sober, I’ve got my Kevins, my parents are still around to see my success. I knew life would turn out OK, but I didn’t think it’d turn out great.”
As Wendy reaches this remarkable milestone, she goes to show that she is the face of the “new fifty”–an exuberant force to be reckoned with, with absolutely no signs of slowing down.
The sixth season of The Wendy Williams Show begins Monday, September 15, 2014
