What Time Is The Right Time?

The way many of us view TV and the media today has become a way of life for most. It’s seems as though the more we watch TV, the more engaged and addicted we become. Recently Shonda Rhimes who is the writer behind Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How To Get Away With Murder has been under a lot of scrutiny from many people and especially parents for some of the racy sex scenes on her shows. I think one of main reasons why their is so much up rise about this topic is the fact that people are not too comfortable with seeing sex on TV or rather so homosexuality. The thing is if you do not want your child watching shows like this, then do not let them watch it. You cannot expect the TV to be a babysitter for your child because it is not designed to monitor what your child should or should not watch. One of the most important and major responsibilities of being a parent is being able to control what your child hears, sees, and watches. One good tip is if you don’t want your child watching certain stations, then you can call your cable company and have them block whatever channel you do not want your child to watch. When it comes to parenting, being able to implement good examples and values at home is essential for them to know right from wrong. When it is all said and done the only thing you can do is do your best. As sad as it may be, you cannot always shield and protect your child from the world. In my opinion I think Shonda is a powerful strong black woman that is very talented in her craft. I believe her writing is not geared towards a younger audience. In her own way she is showing sex in different aspects because whether it may be heterosexual, homosexual, or interracial it is all the same and realistic in the world today. At the end of the day if you like it you like it but if you don’t you don’t. I mean it’s not like she is begging people to watch her shows. The bottom line is if you do not like what you see, then change the station. Nobody is forcing you to watch it unless you choose to watch it on your own accord. Sometimes I find it annoying and mind boggling that people get so much on her case about her shows, but then I think about all the rest of the shows out here that show way more then what she does on regular networks or even the graphic video games out here on the market today. As a writer myself I find that their will be a time when you will find people that may disagree with what you have to say. I guess that comes with the territory when having your work out there and exposed. Yet I believe you should always stand by your work no matter the outcome. I think Shonda should keep on doing what she is doing and leave the haters behind. So what do you guys think? Agree or Disagree? Leave questions and comments below.
