2014 MTV Video Music Awards: The Nominations, The Snubs, My Predictions

The good news? At this point, Summer 2014 is in full swing. The not so good news? The unofficial end of summer kick off, also known as the MTV Video Music Awards is right around the corner and the full list of nominations were announced on July 17, 2014. Leading the pack with  eight nominations is Beyoncé followed by rappers Iggy Azalea and MTV VMA veteran, Eminem with seven.

Probably just as interesting as the nominations, if not more so, were the snubs of a few MTV VMA heavyweights such as Britney Spears for “Work Bitch” and Lady Gaga for “Applause”. Other obvious snubs included Demi Lovato, Bruno Mars, One Direction, the Beibs, and Rihanna.

I’m just going to call it now: Beyoncé is going to probably sweep almost every award she is nominated for, if not all of them. I’ll give credit where credit is due, it was Beyoncé’s year. I mean c’mon, she gave us the gem that is “surfbort”! The other major winner that night is most likely going to be Iggy Azalea because let’s face it, she’s been having a phenomenal year as she’s becoming a little more mainstream and I’m positive we’ll be seeing her racking up a few more nominations when the 2015 VMA’s roll around.

Here’s the complete list of the nominees. The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards will air Sunday, August 24, 2014.
