Michigan’s Ban on Same-Sex Marriage Ruled Unconstitutional

U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman has ruled that Michigan’s Ban on same-sex marriage violates the U.S. Constitution.  This comes after a two-week trial focused on the impact of same-sex marriage on parenting. Seventeen states and the District of Columbia already issue licenses for same-sex marriage. Bans on gay marriage have been overturned in Texas, Utah, Oklahoma and Virginia, since December but appeals have put those cases on hold.
