Another season of The View has come and gone, and in a year of monumental changes, co-hosts Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd have officially bid farewell to the critically acclaimed daytime talk show.
The Bon Voyages began Thursday (August 7) with McCarthy, after one season appeared on her final episode as a moderator, taking the place of noticeably absent Whoopi Goldberg. During her address to the audience and viewers, McCarthy said, ‘All I can say is ”wow”, I am so grateful, My time here was short, but the memories and lessons learned here will stay with me forever, I only took a little time but I definitely enjoyed every second of The View,’.
Fast forward to Monday (August 11) to a pre taped season finale and farewell episode to Sherri Shepherd after a seven year stint as co-host. The long time co-host came to the table already fighting back tears as the audience continuously chanted “Sherri! Sherri! Sherri!” With her son Jeffrey by her side, she bid farewell by saying, “When I joined The View seven years ago Jeffrey was 2 years old and I was going through a very public divorce. Now my son is 9 years old and I’m going through another very public divorce. Let’s just say I’m happy that Barbara Walters and Bill Geddes were better at picking co-hosts for this show than I was at choosing my husbands.” She then reflected more on her time on the panel saying “I’m so extremely and profoundly grateful. This has been one of the best seven years of my life, I didn’t want to take this job. … I have to say my boss Barbara Walters pushed me. I cried in my dressing room for three years saying, ‘What am I doing on this table? I don’t know what I’m doing!’”
Don’t worry Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy fans, they’re not walking into the sunset just yet. Shepherd will be starring as Cinderella’s wicked step mother in her broadway debut this fall. McCarthy has begun her new Sirius radio show Dirty, Sexy, Funny weekly.
The revamped new season of The View with Whoopi Goldberg, returning co-host Rosie O’Donnell, and 2 to 3 as-of-yet named new co-hosts will begin early September.
